Julian - Pear Picking

Today we went to Julian to go pear picking. We started out at a winery where we sampled some apple wine and had a picnic under the apple trees. The we headed to Odell's Organic Orchard to pick pears for a change.




Daddy got Samantha her own slab of warm apple pie with cinnamon ice cream.

We got to pet some goats at the orchard. They also sell fresh goat's milk and goat cheese.

Preschool

Samantha loved her first day at preschool! She ran straight to the reading corner and curled up with a book as I left. She has already met several little boys, Pete and Nicholas, but can't remember any girls' names.

Samantha has already observed that the girls like to play in housekeeping and with dolls and the boys like to play with "other stuff", but everyone seems to like story time equally. She can't wait to go back next week.

Cookie Decorating

Samantha and her friend, Ella, decorated Christmas cookies today. Samantha obviously had too much sugar!! But she had lots of fun with the frosting.

Fire Station Tour

Today Samantha went on a Fire Station tour with our friends. She got a fire hat and badge. Her favorite part was sitting in the fire truck and turning the steering wheel!

New cousin

Samantha went to visit Aunt Amy and new baby cousin Colby in the hospital. She was so excited to hold a brand-new baby!

New Haircut

Mommy finally broke down and cut Samantha's hair. She got to sit in a Barbie jeep and watch Dora while her hair was cut, and afterwards she got vanilla hairspray and pink sparkles in her hair. Pretty fancy!

Ole!

We drove to Las Cruces, NM to see Scott's family for a week. Samantha completely terrorized us on the car rides there and back. But once we were there, she had a lot of fun collecting rocks, blowing bubbles and sledding at White Sands.

Christmas Day

Christ mas was so much fun with Samantha this year! She ran out to the living room and immediately announced that Santa had been here. Here she is modeling some new slippers (so she won't steal Mommy's), her new tricycle and her Christmas dress.

Samantha's 2nd Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Samantha's big 2! We had a teddy bear picnic with 15 toddlers. It was a little crazy but everyone had fun. The kids played Hungry Bear and ate bear paw cupcakes.

First Haircut

After almost two years, Samantha got her first haircut today. She styled Tiny Baby's hair while Shari Lea cut hers. She sat so nicely and even let Shari Lea put in some bobby pins and hairspray!

Halloween

Here is Samantha in her costume as Dorothy from The Wizard of OZ. We went to a Halloween party, where she shared goldfish crackers with her friend, Aubree the cow. She got a new Trick or Treating Mr. Potato Head that she played with all day.Trick or treating on Halloween night was a little scary for her but we'll try again next year.

First Work of Art

This picture may just look like scribbles, but it is the first one that Samantha has drawn and told me what was in it. When I pointed to the top and asked what it was, she said, "The sun." When I pointed to the bottom and asked her what that was, she said, "Brown". But there's a sun, so she's making progress! (photo is shown sideways and I don't know how to fix it!)

De Jong's Dairy

We took a field trip to De Jong's Dairy to see where milk comes from. Samantha kept her distance from the big, scary cows. But she started to have a good time once chocolate milk and cookies were served!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch today with our friends. Samantha drove a tractor, went through the corn maze, and saw some pretty big pumpkins!.

Santa Rosa Plateau

We took Samantha for her first hike where she walked the whole way, about 1.25 miles (with Daddy carrying her part of the way). She climbed some rocks and trees and got really dirty!

Fall in Julian, CA
